Are Illegal Immigrants Really Taking Jobs Away from American Worker's ?

When the supreme court voted to uphold the " Legal Arizona Workers Act " ( LAWA ) on May 25, the avility for states to revoke business license for firms hiring illegal immigrants was protected. (LAWA is distinct from Arizona SB 1070, which empowered law enforcement officers in Arizona to engage in racial profiling.)

Reaction to the decision among likely voters was strongly in favor: A Rasmussen poll conducted on May 27 and 28 found that 61 percent of Americans support a law in their state that would shut down companies that knowingly and repeatedly hire illegal immigrants.

An activists who advocate for restrictive immigration policies welcomed the ruling. There a downward effect on wages Says Jessica Vaughn, the director of policy studies for the D.C based Center for Immigration studies , referring to the introduction of undocumented workers in the market. There is so many occupations where wages have just been stagnant for many years, or even  declined like in construction building trades industry and custodial work. Of course its not just one thing , You can't control competition from china,But immigration policy is something that we can control as a nation.

Support for the penalization of companies hiring illegal workers can be chalked up to a variety of motivations, But the view that it protects American jobs has been embraced by many , including  politicians like Rep, Lamar Smith R Texas, the Chair of the House Judiciary Committee and a member of the Reclaim American Jobs Caucus. Not only is this law constitutional, it is common sense, American Jobs should be preserved for Americans and legal workers, he said of the high court 5-3 ruling. Today , there are 7 Million individuals working in the United States illegally. E-verify will help turn off the jobs magnet that encourages illegal immigration.

The debate over whether there is any correlation between immigration policy and the fortunes of American workers is in fact an open one. And according to Pia  Orrenius the senior economist for the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas , the major question among most economists is actually why the impact of the nations 12 million illegal immigrants on the labor market is so small.

Given that the topic of the economic impact of immigration is so politically charged, scores of  studies have been ordered on the Subject, They widely - shared consensus holds that for every 10 percent increase in the share of foreign born workers in a specific area there less than 1 percent change in the average wages of legal residents, including for low skilled workers, says Orrenius . (Wages are used as the economic metric for employment in the U.S )

Two leading paper's that present the view of a minimal negative economic impact are immigration and national Wages: Clarifying the Theory and Empirics, published in 2008 by academics Gianmarco Ottoviano and  Giovanni Peri, and the landmark, The new Americans, Economic , Demographic, and Fiscal effects of immigration , published in 1997 by James P . smith and Barry Edmontson, working under the aegis of the 1990 immigration Act.

These econmists caution against extrapolating from anecdotes of immigrants coming to a specific town and taking jobs, smith and Edmontson do concede , though that the losers may be the less skilled domestic workers who compete with immigrants and whose wages will faill. But they go on to say, To the extent that immigrants specialize in activities that otherwise would note have existed domestically, immigration can be be beneficial for all domestic residents. In this case, there is little substitution of new immigrant workers for domestic workers.

The argument that an infusion of foreign workers represents a new and non-competing, workforce, and therefore poses little threat to the American worker, is buttressed by other economic analysis. Among them is the related concept that as immigrants , carry out jobs that native wouldn't want or even wouldn't exist if it weren't done by a foreigner , the native born American is freed up to specialize . And that complementary model improves overall efficiency, Finally the so called immigrantion surplus, Holds that the US economy must benefit from a net gain in goods and services because wages earned by immigrants tend to be lower than the cost equivalent of what they produce.

Dubai / UAE residence visa rules evoke mixed reaction

A new rule that calls for all expatriates looking to get a family member to the UAE on a residency visa or a housemaid or driver, to mandatory submit a copy of an attested tenancy contract and utility bills has opened a pandora's box.

Even though, this is not required for visit visas, the news has disturbed a cross section of residents who are all vociferously making their feelings heard .

Speaking to Emirates 247, staffer at al Bahjah typing center in Karama said, it is already two months since we were told to ask for the attested tenancy contract and electricity bill , but it is only about 15 to 20 days since it is strictly being implemented.

Another staff at ARA Secretarial Service and typing Center said, some people are confused that even those employed in a company who renew their visa need to show the tenancy contract. But this is not true. Neither do you need these documents if you are applying for visit visa.

Abdulla Kutty from Kozhikode in Kerala said that he had been sharing a two-bedroom apartment in Ajman with his office colleague and has plans to bring his wife on residence visa after the Eid holidays, But now i will have to probably get her an employement visa "said Kutty.

According to Ansari Zainuddin of al Fajer legal Consultants, the rule has been there for quite some time but is only being strictly implemented now.

It makes sense because if you as an individual cannot afford to rent our own house how will you be able to sponsor your family and take care of them. It causes a bit of discomfort to people with less income, but it makes sense , " he said.

Beware of fake job offers , internet scam

ISB:  The world famous Nigerian Advance fee fraud known as 419 Scam used to send emails or postal letters offering to move a billion of US dollar funds in the victim's account and pledged a huge chunk of share from that fund. Many people went behind the bars from across the world including Pakistan for being involved in this Scam but majority of them belonged to Nigeria and other African countries billion of  fake US currency , Bank letters , Stamps , Companies letterhead were recovered from the scammers. People from almost every country of the globe got affected and even some companies suffered a loss of huge amount. Australian institute of Criminology issued a detailed report about 419 Scam and disclosed that about 500 million US dollor's losses were suffered by 419 Victims were killed and kidnapped after being involved in this scam.

The exposure of 419 Scam did send a warning message to all the internet surgers but people continue to become prey of thus trap. With the passage of time the info tech is getting advanced and equally shrewd who come up with different schemes and programming offering lucrative incentives to innocent net users. Scammers have now launched a new fraud on internet by offering jobs in oil and other companies with every attractive salaries ranging fro US 44000 to 94000 with many other perks and priviledges like quality single or family housing accommodation , free medical care and insurance from entire family, excellent educational assistance benefits for all dependents , airfares with holiday travel, and excess baggage allowances , paid vacation , Official  vehicle , and many more gimmicks like these. Scammers mostly target the Asian countries including Pakistan as the unemployment ratio is rather very high  in these states and majority are living below the poverty line. The lower middle class wants to make progress overnight and hence they are always ready to take the financial risk involved in the offers of the scammers.

There are different types of scams some of them offer a guaranteed employment with a fixed time period against the deposit of a fee. What all these companies do is that these just distribute candidates resume to prospective employers, this is also known as CV or Resume :"Blasting" you pay money to have your details sent to worldwide employers who are hiring , but what the fraudsters do is that they SPAM hundreds or thousands of employers industry websites and online magazines with your details. Some recruiting companies offering a  money back guarantee as an incentive to use them but very few job seekers ever receive a refund.

Some time scammers advertise a job on the behalf of real company. A bogus telephone or by email interview  may take place and after some time you are informed that you are selected for that job. Now you need to secure the job they ask you to send money for your work visa or travel costs to the agent or a bogus travel agent who works on their behalf no matter what the variation they always invlve the job seeker sending them or their agent money , credit card or bank account details.

How to avoid these types of scams never give your personal bank account  PAYPAL account or credit card numbers never forward transfer or wire money to an employer.
Remember that a genune employer or agency will not ask for money for visa processing or travel costs . One may be required to provide your own airfares but you should do so through t travel agent in your area and which you know and trust. All the scams start by receiving the emails .
